Adam Green
Hi Adam, could you tell me a
bit about your album, why did you choose to make it? And how long did it take you?
I didn’t choose to make the album, the album chose to make me, and I er…I did it for the benefit of humanity and a patron
of the arts.
The album took a year and a half, plus or minus three or four days.
I’ve watched a couple of your music videos, do you have much input over what happens, or
do you have a preferred director?
Oh yeah totally, all my videos I kind of directed or co-directed, they’ve always been either my concept or a concept that
me and the director come up with together after just talking for a while, yeah for sure. I’ve always been a fascist dictator about everything but um maybe this record I’ve been looser, I’ve let
somebody play something they wanted to do this time.
Do you plan on carrying on making music or do you see a point where you may
stop?
Oh no, I hope never to stop, please, please don’t put that in my head! I’ve got to keep on going, it’s like running a
marathon and I never want to get to the finish line.
What do you think of girls and guitars?
Girls and guitars? It could be good, er, y’know bikini kill, woo, that’s pretty nice.
Have you actually heard Kate Nash though?
Er yeah, “you’re mates are much fittaah” yeah that’s pretty groovy.
If you had a film made about your life, what genre would it be?
Er, it would open up with the Genesis song ‘I can’t dance’ and It would close with the song Eminem wrote to his
mother.
Who would you have play you?
Macaulay Culkin
When he was younger or now?
Now, how could he play me when he was younger?
I don’t know, maybe there will be vast improvements in technology when you’re making the
film.
Why do you make music?
Because it titillates me, I find it to be a precious pursuit and a generous one.
